Competition heats up for Malta AIBC Awards

A closer look at “Asset Tokenization of the year” Malta Blockchain Summit nominees

On October 9th AIBC Summit announced the finalists of the annual Malta AIBC Awards. Every year, ten nominations cover the most important achievements in AI, fintech and blockchain. A separate nomination is dedicated to the companies revolutionising the industry of asset tokenization in Malta.

Malta is one of the world’s most progressive jurisdictions in terms of financial, legal and administrative framework for blockchain applications and digital securities particularly. The companies building the infrastructure for asset tokenization are receiving support and acknowledgment from local authorities and business networks.

This year the finalists of  “Asset tokenization of the year” are TaoDust, BlackMantaCapital and Stobox. All the finalists are recognised for their impact in tokenized securities ecosystem in the region.

Black Manta Capital

Co-founders and managing partners: Alexander Rapatz and Christian Platzer

Black Manta is a one-stop agency that provides asset tokenization services for startups, small and medium businesses and funds. In August 2019, its subsidiary BMCP received a license from German financial regulator BaFin, which allows them to provide regulated services related to the issuance and management of tokenized securities.

Black Manta has an international business development office in Malta. In 2020, BMCP plans to establish a Professional Investor Fund (PIF) in Malta, which will be investing in tokenized shares of blockchain and tech startups on revenue stage. BMCP’s later plans also include establishing a fund, focused on early stage startups.

Stobox

Stobox platform provides the blockchain-based infrastructure for businesses to issue, offer and manage asset-backed digital securities to investors worldwide. Stobox focuses on engaging modern millennial investors, and actively works with the Maltese regulator to conduct compliant security token offerings. On Malta AI & Blockchain Summit, Stobox will present the book on Security Token Offerings featuring the comment from Chief Regulatory Officer Malta Digital Innovation Authority.

Apart from real estate and funds, Stobox also focuses on tokenization of cannabis companies, bridging two of the fastest growing industries in the world.

TaoDust

CEO: Alan Tonetti

Blockchain-based equity crowdfunding platform TaoDust intends to be a catalyst for the disruption of traditional equity markets. The company utilises Ethereum blockchain to provide tokenization services to startups, and is known for having Herbert Sim (“the Bitcoin Man”) among its investors.
