Being held at the award-winning Crystal Jade restaurant in downtown Manila between 12pm and 3pm, over 100 c-level experts in Blockchain will get together to discuss high-level developments and deals in the sector. In 2018, the Philippines confirmed the creation of what has been termed the “Crypto Valley of Asia” as countries in the region ease regulations to attract financial technology companies and Blockchain / crypto start-ups. The move aims to mimic the success of the Zug Valley in Switzerland which is now home to more than 200 blockchain companies, and the Philippines is investing in a $100million blockchain hub that has prompted commitments from at least 25 tech companies to help set up the project. Currently the hub includes an internet data centre, a self-sustaining power production infrastructure and a “blockchain academy” training facility.
“The overwhelming interest from offshore companies in financial technology solutions and cryptocurrency trading that want to locate at the Cagayan Special Economic Zone has surpassed all our expectations,” said Raul Lambino, the CEZA chief executive, who expects more than 10,000 jobs to be relocated to the area.
Supporting this new direction for the country’s economy, the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission last year announced plans to allow initial coin offerings in the country. In August, the Commission disclosed draft regulations that treat coin offerings as securities, with rules on token sales to be similar to those for an initial public offering. Market research company Frost & Sullivan also predicted the fintech industry will grow by as much as 72.5% from 2015 to 2020 to reach $72 billion.
Providing an ideal setting for leaders in the Blockchain sector to discuss future opportunities in the region, the Crystal Jade restaurant was founded on the core principles of Chinese cuisine while drawing influence from modern gastronomy to produce food that nourishes, food that is good for you, and food that inspires and helps restore your soul and nurture your relationships. In this respect one could say that the restaurant already has good energy and synergy with the Blockchain industry!
